Voices: An Artist Mystery Solved

Remember the days before netflix and video on demand and even DVD's where you were stuck with whatever was on TV. You flicked around the channels and there he was, Bob Ross, with his white guy afro and his gentle voice, painting happy trees and naming the clouds. And even though you never painted you would stop and watch him paint and think "that looks so easy the way he does that." There was something mesmerizing about him. No wild car chases, or laugh out loud guffaws, or people doing something stupid, or fights on stage. Just Bob Ross happily painting happy trees and clouds and talking.

He was Mr. Rogers for grown ups.

And before you knew it the show was over and then something else came on. You couldn't binge watch Bob Ross and you could never prepare for him with just the right paints and an easel and canvas. Although Bob Ross left us a long time ago, he's more popular than ever. And now you can binge watch him and prepare for him and paint right along with him. And so here I present to you the question and the answer to "Where Are All The Bob Ross Paintings?"

Today's Canadian Woman is

Kathy Meaney

Kathy Meaney is an Alberta artist who loves to paint middle aged women of all shapes and sizes. Her main series are Ladies of the Lake and Canadi-ANNA (love that name). She doesn't paint faces because she wants the viewer to see themselves in the paintings. Her followers like to get together with their friends and post pictures on her Facebook of their recreations of her paintings. I've had the pleasure of meeting her a couple of times. She has held a writing competition every year based on the Ladies of the Lake theme, and in 2016 I was honored to win. I received one of her prints. Here's her website. Kathy Meaney Website
