Freestyle Fridays: Suzanne's Garden

Updated: Sep 8, 2020

The day of anything goes. *****

My friend Suzanne and I have an agreement. I have a house with a yard. I hate mowing the lawn.

I don't like gardening either. Gardening involves kneeling, and bending over and sticking your hands in the dirt where the worms are and maybe having a mouse attack you. Plus I kill everything I touch. Plants see me coming with a watering can or a trowel and they keel over. They would rather die on their own than have me torture them. However,

I love and adore gardens. My idea of gardening is to make all the plans and design the designs and pick out the flowers and the vegetables and the fruits and the herbs - and then hire someone to do the work. But I have no money for that.

My friend Suzanne loves to garden. She thinks mowing the lawn is a zen exercise. Whereas mowing the lawn for me makes me feel grungy and sneezy and wheezy and achy and other seven dwarves names, it makes her feel like it's a Calgon bath that takes her away. .

Suzanne lives in an apartment building and doesn't have her own yard. So I let her have mine and don't tell her what to do and let her putter around with her earbuds in.

So she mows the grass and plants flowers in pots that she distributes on the front and back porches, and then people tell me what nice flowers I have. It works for everyone. I took some pictures of her work the other day. I don't touch these plants and that's why they are still alive.
