Treasure Tuesdays: The Rotary Club Book Sale

Twice a year in April and October, the local Rotary Club has a book sale. They take over almost the whole mall. Tables laden with books, organized into subjects, alphabetized for fiction, are set up and people come from all over to look over the treasures. Children's books are sold by the inch. I know one year they had a special room for rarities and I picked up a full set of Maxie books by Elsie B. Garnder. I had never heard of these before, but I collect girls book series. I'll talk more about them some other time.

Anyway, this year I went with a friend and she treated me. So here's a pic of the books I got.

Like I said - I collect girls book series, so I'm filling out my Nancy Drew collection - and yes, I am in the process of reading them. In fact, my current one "Nancy's Mysterious Letter", I'm reading the 1932 version, but I picked up the updated 1960's version to read that as well so I can see what the differences are. I have started watching "Sweet Magnolias" on Netflix so I wanted to read the Sherryl Woods books the series is based on. And I also added to my Chesapeake Shores collection. That is also a tv series based on Woods books, and it films just down the highway in another town from me. I haven't see it yet since I don't get it. Stuart McLean is a Canadian icon and a humorist. I find Susan Boyle to be an inspiration and I've seen her audition on Britain's Got Talent over and over and it still brings a tear to my eye. I would have taken pictures of the book sale but I didn't think of it until now. Maybe next time.

And yes, I noticed that my bookshelves are a little messy. It's interesting how you notice things through the eye of a camera. Also - this table, office chairs and bookshelves - are in my kitchen. So if I photographed the other way - you would have seen my stove and counters. My library is all over my house.
