Women Wednesday: The History Chicks
I have been listening to The History Chicks for years.
Becket Graham and Susan Vollenweider got together one day and said "Hey, let's do a podcast about historical women even though neither of us has a degree in history." The result is a highly entertaining and often funny look at women who have made their mark on the world - both good and bad but mostly good. Although actually, Becket called up Susan who she had never met in person and said "Hey, do you
want to do a history of women podcast with me?" And Susan said, "Sure!" Because that's what you do when people you've never met ask you to do stuff.
I just discovered while looking them up, that they even got away from the microphone where no one could see them, and got in front of the camera to do some short bios on the Biography Channel. I had never seen a picture of either of them before, and there they are!
They have one criteria. The woman they focus on has to be dead for awhile.
Not only do they do the podcast, but Susan posts extensive show notes on their website along with links, Becket pins thousands of photos on pinterest, they have a facebook lounge where people have trivia nights and cooking contests, and they always include book, movie, and tv show recommendations related to their subject. Not bad for a couple of moms. Here's their website. Enjoy! The History Chicks
