Ask Me Anything: Dinner With Jesus

Here we are, the third question I got on my Ask Me Anything Blog Post. This one is from Tamara. "If you could have dinner with anyone (alive or historical), who would it be and why?" For me, it's obvious and not original. Many people would give this answer. It would be Jesus. No surprise there since I already gave it away with the title and picture. As an aside - "Dinner With Jesus" sounds like the title of a book. Yes, I know that Jesus is always here, but I'm talking sit down face to face with me, asking questions, and Him answering me. And yes, I already ask Him questions - it doesn't mean I hear the answers. So many questions. I'm afraid I would grill Him. That is after I've worshipped Him and hugged Him and thanked Him for what He did. But then the questions would come. "Why? Why? Why? But the most important question I would ask is, "Who am I really? In the great scheme of things, who am I and why do I have to go through all the things I'm going through?" Because I'm pretty sure I'm more than what I am on earth. Sure, I could ask Him how the world began, and why there are rats on the earth (I think they're Satan's animal), and why men are in charge when they're so bad at it and screwed things up so much, and why doesn't He rescue children, and how accurate is the bible... But first I need to know who I am, what my purpose is, what my mission is, and what He wants me to do. Me in particular. Not the general "Spread the gospel" but in the specifics of that. And honestly, I'm afraid to ask how I'm doing. I would not want to get a list from Jesus about all the things I messed up. Yeah, I know grace. But still. Oh, and I'd ask Him to make me thin and healthy. And financially stable with a pretty house. And make me able to sing well. And I'd want some pictures together to show my kids.

The rest of it - I have an eternity to find out. But one dinner is not a lot of time. And neither is one life.

Would you have room for another at that table?

That would certainly be a fascinating conversation.

I would love to join you in a dinner with Jesus! Like you, I know He is always with us but so many times I think about being able to sit face to face and have him answer some questions as to why, what for and how come.
