Where Do I Go From Here When I Don't Have A Map?

The prompt for today was "start thinking about where you want to go with your website. Have you made plans or set goals for where you want to be? Take some time today and map out where you would like to be in 90 days." Here's my answer. I DON'T KNOW!!!! Here's the reality. I've had this blog for several years and some blogs before that. They all seem to be exercises in futility and self-importance: "Hey, look at me pretending that people care what I think." Now, admittedly, a lot of that could be me because I'm not consistent. However, I never have enough readers to care if I am. And one could say, "Well, maybe you don't have a clear direction." My purpose is to sell my books. There aren't a lot of different ways to say, "Buy my books" without becoming an annoying telemarketer that calls every day at dinner time. So I talk about other things, which interest me, but...do people even read anymore? Sure, I got people reading my blog during the Ultimate Blog Challenge (thank you) but that's because it's part of the rules. After this month, no one has to read my blog anymore. So here's the plan. I'm going to try to continue the blog. I am in the process of doing new covers, new formats, formatting, and marketing ALL my books and some that have been waiting around for a while. So I can show you all what I've been doing as it gets done. I'm going to try to have a schedule. Not everyday. But I like doing Throw-back Thursdays and Sunday Musings. I also thought I would post on Tuesday something about books. Not just my books, but other books. Book reviews, author histories, book lists, talk about genres - stuff like that. Not sure what I'll call it. And then I might, every now and then, on another day, talk about whatever else I want to. So I'm looking at 3-4 blog posts a week. I could even write them all on one day and schedule them to post. And I may end up talking to no one. I have no control over that. So here's a question for you. What do you think I should call my Tuesday book thing (and don't say "Tuesday Book Thing"). Oh, wait, second question: Any ideas, tips, tricks, that you have for me?

What about calling Tuesday just “Book Nook” and not have Tuesday in the title.

Like you, I’m trying to figure out where to go from here.  I love the momentum I’ve built up and need to have a plan going forward or I’ll just fall off the band wagon.  I also love this community and would love to keep the support going between challenges.  I’ll happily be checking out your blog as we go.

How about "Tuesday Book Nook"? After this UBC I am going to take a three months' nap to be ready for the Octover Challenge ;-)

My blog doesn't get much traffic, but with each post, it's also being posted on Instagram and Facebook, so that helps... some. Many say blogs are over, others say they are not. Yet today, I don't think it's as much about people reading it as it is the process itself. Consider it your free writing space, instead of a journal. Or a couple times a month, post a couple paragraphs that your writing for your next book, or a past book. In the past year, I have stayed on a blog schedule, and I still don't get many views. Yet all those posts are now going into my book. I've been writing my book for a year, not even realizin…

You can call your Tuesday book thing "Tuesday musings or Tuesday tidbits" or something like that. I hope that gives you an idea. And that’s my tip for you. 🙂
