I DID IT!

Today is the LAST DAY of the Ultimate Blog Challenge. For those who have no idea because you happened to wander here somehow and was struck by how interesting I am, it was a challenge to blog EVERY SINGLE DAY during the month of July. And I did it. EVERY SINGLE DAY. And not once did I cheat and pretend that I blogged a day by blogging the next day twice to make up for it. Sure, some were later than others, but I always made my midnight deadline.

So what did I learn? 1. It's way better for me to write the blog the night before and post right after my midnight. Because if I sleep first like normal people, it can take me ALL DAY to get around to blogging. Instead, I wake up knowing that one of my daily tasks is done. 2. Blogging doesn't have to take hours. Look at point 1. 3. I already knew that I don't want to blog every day. But I do want to blog several times a week because, as it turns out, I have stuff to say. It's not necessarily stuff people want to read. 4. Even if no one reads it, blogging is a way to have a record of my existence. I am here. I did exist. I have proof beyond all those children who never call me. 5. I found some great blogs in the process. I found pretty blogs in the process. I found writers' blogs in the process. I have bookmarked my favorites so far. This gives me more subjects to blog about.

6. My long-ignored website needs to be updated. Maybe an overhaul. I have to add that to my "1000 Things to Do as a Writer" list.

7. I'd better not look at that list.

I hope to continue to have readers. Or at least people who pretend to read it and say hi in the comments.
